GCSO makes several promotions

    KARLIE YOUNG Administrative Assistant Karlie Young joined GCSO as a dispatcher in 2017. She has been promoted to Administrative Assistant under Chief Deputy Greene and Lt. Martha Smith.

    NIC MALSTROM Nic Malstrom was promoted to Investigator. He started his law enforcement career in 2004. Malstrom served as Chief of Police in Somerville for 5 years before joining Grimes County Sheriff’s Office in 2017.

    ANGELICA ALFARO Angelica Alfaro was promoted to Jail Sergeant. She joined GCSO in 2012 as a dispatcher and obtained her jailers license. She held several positions within the agency including Administrative Assistant and SOR/Evidence Technician. She obtained her Master Telecommunicator’s license in August.

    JAMES RACUS Deputy James Racus was promoted to Investigator. Racus began his career in law enforcement at Houston Police Department in 2002. He joined GCSO in May 2022 as a Patrol Deputy.

    MIKE RYAN Deputy Mike Ryan was promoted to Investigator. Ryan served in the US Army for 6 years as a combat medic. He was deployed to Africa as an adjunct professor for Central Texas College Europe and taught emergency medicine to the locals. He began his law enforcement career in 2017 after he was honorably discharged. Ryan started with GCSO in 2019 as a Patrol Deputy.

    ALLEN WEAVER Grimes County School Resource Officer Allen Weaver was promoted to School Resource Officer Sergeant. Weaver joined GCSO after retiring from Bryan Police Department and is currently serving Anderson-Shiro CISD.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Office has made several recent promotions including three new investigators, two new sergeants and an administrative assistant.
