Music Study Club surprise

Navasota High School Choir’s Spring SINGABRATION concert May 18 treated the audience to a great concert featuring Pop Music.

Several members of The Music Study Club of Navasota (MSCN), a member of Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs, attended the performance. Co-Presidents Carol Jean Gessner and Marilyn Bettes made a surprise presentation to the Director of Choral Activities, Jason Mincy.

“MSCN is donating $1,500 to the Navasota High School Choral Activities Fund,” said MSCN member Marilyn Bettes. “We are doing this to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the 2022-23 Navasota High School Choir, none of which would have happened without the leadership of Choir Director, Mr. Jason Mincy.”

The choir’s accomplishments include: UIL Solo & Ensemble Competition - 11 Soloists--1st Division (Superior) Award, two ensembles 2nd Division (Excellent) Award; five students qualified for Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competition and will be competing in Austin, May 28-29. AT the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation - Tenor-Bass Choir Sweepstakes Award-the first time in history for Navasota ISD; Treble Choir- -Sweepstakes Award, the second time in NISD history!

MSCN thanked the choir for sharing the gift of music with others, congratulated them on a great year, and reminded them to always keep the joy of music in their heart!
