AUSTIN- In conjunction with the Navasota Police Department and Texas Department of Safety officers, Leroy Pratt, 50, of Navasota was arrested Sept. 26, in Navasota by Texas Rangers in connection with a fatal hit and run in South Austin that left two dead.

Pratt was indicted Aug. 26, in connection with the incident that occurred Sept. 27, 2018, around 9 a.m., on two counts of Accident Involving Death, commonly known as Failure to Stop and Render Aid, a second-degree felony.

Reports indicate that a commercial vehicle collided with a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck near the intersection of Pearce Lane and Texas State Highway

130. The occupants of the Ranger were killed during the incident and the driver of the commercial vehicle left the scene of the crash.

Texas Department of Public Safety officers launched an investigation once they arrived on scene, and the Texas Rangers later joined the investigation. The agencies investigated for several months in conjunction with the Vehicular Crimes Special Prosecution Unit of the district attorney’s office and identified Pratt as the suspect.

Following his arrest, Pratt was booked into the Grimes County Jail.
