Signs of fall are setting in, the days are getting shorter, the air is getting cooler, there is football every weekend and the annual St. Stanislaus Catholic Church homecoming and bazaar is just around the corner. The second Sunday of October each year brings this special event to the community.

The parishioners of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson are presently preparing for this year’s 67th Annual Homecoming and Bazaar set for Sunday, Oct. 10. Fr. Eli Lopez and his parish members cordially invite you to join them in a day filled with fun, food and fellowship. This parish takes the safety of its volunteers and visitors very serious. All precautions will be taken to keep everyone as safe as possible. Face masks are not required but are encouraged.

The day will begin with a Mass at 10 a.m. Afterward, the bazaar will open with the serving of a barbecue and sausage dinner with all the trimmings at 11 a.m. This year the famous St. Stanislaus coleslaw made by the women of the parish and was at all the bazaars from 1979 through 2007 will be brought back to the dinner line by the Borski family and volunteers. So, no bought coleslaw this year – real homemade stuff! Cost per plate will be $12. Sandwiches will be served later in the day for $5 each. You will be able to purchase a pound of brisket for $15 per pound and sausage for $10 per pound to take home.

Events include booths and games for all ages as well as the St. Stan and Domino Shuffle. Tommy Szymczak will once again head up the live auction with lots of nice unique items, antiques, quilts and much more beginning at 1 p.m. This year will be the 33rd consecutive year that Brian Marshall and the Texas Paradise Band will provide live Polish music for dancing and entertainment from 1-5 p.m. Brian Marshall said, “we started out playing under a funeral tent and through the years have progressed to a homemade bandstand for dancing under the pavilion.”

The raffle consisting of eight prizes will be drawn at 5 p.m. You will be able to purchase lots of handmade and homemade items at Babusha’s Porch. And don’t forget, the beautiful and historic church completed in 1917 will also be open for visitors to view. Come and see the ceiling mural that was re-created from the original church but had been painted over many years back. The combination of the events of the day makes for a wonderful outing for the whole family.

Your presence will be appreciated, and your support will benefit the beautification and maintenance of the church. The bazaar grounds are located at 1511 Hwy. 90 South in Anderson. For more information call the parish office, 936-873-2291 or visit their website at www.saintstans.org..
