The community stepped up again with an outpouring of support at the annual KBTX Food for Families Food Drive raising $292,767.77 in monetary donations and collecting 167,995 pounds of food.

Citizens State Bank in Navasota served as one of six collection sites throughout the Brazos Valley. In year’s past Mid-South Synergy was the location of the drive, but ongoing construction forced the location change.

“Citizens State Bank was truly honored this year to be able to step up and help out by hosting the KBTX Food for Families Food Drive for Grimes County,” stated Assistant V.P. and Assistant Branch Manager Melissa Vezurk. “Our partnership with Mid-South went very well as Erin Hughes still did much of the behind the scenes leg work for the event and was always just a phone call away to answer questions or get us the help we needed throughout the day.”

Food and monetary donations that are donated in Grimes County remain in Grimes County to provide for those in need locally. There was $12,129.59 in monetary donations and 10,365 pounds of food collected in Grimes County.

The past two years have been such a struggle for so ma ny, and we were happy to be able to serve our community in this capacity and feel it was a huge success,” said Vezurk. “We had so many local school organizations come in to help sort and box the food donations and it was amazing to see the leadership these young men and women exhibited. The best part is just knowing that everything collected stays in Grimes County to help our residents and we hope this brings some comfort and joy to their families this holiday season.”
