Donald George Tardiff, 78, of Navasota, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2019, after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Don was born on June 1, 1940 in Henniker, New Hampshire, to Nelson and Gladys (Green) Tardiff. After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War he returned to private life. He worked for the telephone company and later started his own company – Omni Services, Inc. – which serviced the nuclear power industry. Don loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He liked to travel, enjoyed gambling and fast cars including owning his own race car. He was happiest at the ranch in Navasota whether it was working on a building, mowing or taking care of his horses with the help of his beloved dogs George, Rudy and Lucy. Don was a loving, kind and a gentle man. To projects and charities, he was passionate about, he was always very generous with his time and his treasures.

Don leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 years Cheryl Tardiff, his daughter Tracy Michaud, husband John and daughter Lenay Richardson. Cheryl’s daughter, Troye Skipworth, husband Kevin and daughter Kristine Poston. Grandchildren Tyler Michaud, Amber Michaud, Nathan Michaud, Adam Richardson, Brian Richardson, Sam Skipworth, wife Stephanie, Alec Skipworth, Will Skipworth, Riley Poston Castillo, husband Eugene, Kelsey Poston and Bradey Poston. Great-grandchildren Samuel Skipworth, Steele Skipworth, Braxton Castillo and Hayze Hernandez. He is also survived by sisters Joyce April, Marlene Grendell and brothers Bruce Grendell, wife Joanne, Bob Thomas, wife Linda, sister-in-law Elaine Tardiff, sister-in-law Nancy Toland, husband John, brother-in law Charles Neilson M.D., wife Bonnie and several nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed his relationship with nephew Jon April. Special friends Mitch Bertone, Donna and Leon Nelson, Patty and Bob Marling.

He was predeceased by his brothers Richard Tardiff and Larry Grendell.

We would like to especially thank the staff of Unlimited Care Cottages for their love and compassion they shared with Don while he was in their care.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at New Hope Church, Navasota, Texas, Friday, June 14, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Max Brand III will be officiating.
