RICHARD GRIMES 1953 – 2023
Richard Michael Grimes, 69, of Navasota, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Houston Methodist Hospital surrounded by his wife and sons.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, at First Baptist Church, 301 Church St., in Navasota.
Richard, also known as Mike, was born October 18, 1953 in San Diego, California to Glen Thomas and Susie Lou Boyter Grimes.
Among his many accomplishments, he was most proud of his experiences and many contributions during his years as a member of the Texas and United States Jaycees. He truly believed in giving back to the community he so loved – he was a member and past president of the Grimes County Crime Stoppers, served several years as treasurer of the Navasota Kiwanis Club, past president of the Navasota/ Grimes County Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Navasota ISD Foundation and board member of the Navasota Housing Authority.
Richard loved the Lord and was baptized at a young age in the Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Navasota since 1994 and sang in the church choir.
He loved playing golf with his sons and friends and volunteered as a marshal at Pecan Lakes Golf Course and was a huge fan of the Navasota Rattlers as well as the Houston Astros.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Debbie; sons, Paul Michael Grimes and wife Kelley and their son Reid Michael and Brian Thomas Grimes and brothers Glen (Tommy) Grimes and wife Pattie and William (Pat) Grimes and wife Anita, along with a great number of friends.
