Terry Frank Gabriel of Navasota passed away on July 4, 2022 at the age of 73 surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Calling hours were held from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends took place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 8227 CR 205 at FM 1774, in Plantersville. A parish rosary followed at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr. as the celebrant. The rite of committal was in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Terry’s sons-in-law, Quinn Hansen, Brennan Mack and Ike Duckworth along with grandsons Tanner Hansen, Tate Shaw and Christian Mack. Honorary pallbearers were life-long friends, Lainey Randall, Buzz Jacoby, Sam Jacoby, Lawrence Borgstedt, and Curtis Jones and cousin James Hand Jr.

Terry or “Gabe” as he was known to friends and family was born on May 7, 1949 in Houston, Texas to Frank and Cynthia Gabriel. He was raised in Cypress, Texas and attended Cy-Fair High School where he was a champion Golden Gloves Boxer. He graduated high school in 1967 and worked as a farmer and rancher. In 1970 Gabe met the love of his life, Mildred Treichel. They were inseparable from the time they started dating, through 50 years of marriage, and up until Terry’s final moments. Terry and Mildred were blessed by their four daughters, Terra, Becky, Cari and Kelly, who Terry adored and cherished. His eyes would light up and a huge smile would break out when they walked into the room.

Terry and Mildred built and opened Gabriel’s Drive-In in Stoneham, a convenience store where they also served barbecue, in 1979. Around this time Terry also started an agricultural services company, Terry Gabriel Spreader Service. Eventually Terry and Mildred sold the store and ran the spreader service together for 30 years, with Terry performing the spreader services and Mildred doing the invoicing and bookwork. Terry was an avid outdoorsman, who hunted for many years but preferred fishing later in life. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy, whether that was driving them around in the pasture in his pickup, cooking for them, or fishing with them.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cynthia Gabriel; grandson, Keaton Duckworth; brother-in-law and sister, Ray and Deanie King; and nephew Chad Treichel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Mildred; daughters, Terra Hansen and husband Quinn, Becky Mack and husband Brennan, Cari Shaw, Kelly Duckworth and husband Ike; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Walter Schultz; nine grandchildren, Tanner, Laural and Kayla Hansen, Emma and Tate Shaw, Christian and Brea Mack and Tessa and Ellie Duckworth, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

If you prefer to make a donation in Terry’s honor in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
