GCLL Announces 2019 District All Stars

The 2019 baseball and softball regular season has come to an end for Grimes County Little League (GCLL). A select number of players were chosen to represent GCLL in the District 13 All Star tournament.

Grimes County is sending three teams to compete in the tournament that began Monday and Tuesday, June 3 and June 4, with warmup games.

Machine Pitch

7/8-Year-Old Baseball

Manager: Kenneth Steele; Coaches: Kayla Fialcovic and Crockett Womack; Roster: Lane Steele, Jayden Jordan, Jett Bay, Conner Frenzel, William Borski, Xavier Franklin Jr, Nolan Womack, Roc Morton, Cade Kolby, Jordan Castillo, Kain Ridgeway and Wyatt Otto.

The 7/8 MP baseball tournament is being held in Sealy. Grimes County lost its warmup game Monday, June 3, to Lee County 11-3. They will begin the double elimination tournament Wednesday, June 5, at 8 p.m. against Sealy.

A win over Sealy sets up an 8 p.m. game Thursday, June 6, against Hempstead but a loss would have them playing Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m.

7-Year Old Baseball

Manager: Michael Vickers; Coaches: Micah Wilson and Vickie Haynie; Roster: Caleb Jackson, Gracen Curry, Mason Sweed, Hagan Burzynski, Bonner Wilson, Conley Haynie, Gavin Bassett, Cristian Ponce, Ryder Sechelski, Colton Siracusa and Sawyer Young.

The MP 7-year old team is also playing their games in Sealy. They had a warmup game scheduled for Tuesday evening against Burleson County National (results were not available at press time).

Tournament play begins Wednesday, June 6, at 6 p.m. against Columbus. A win advances Grimes County to face Bellville Thursday, June 7, at 6 p.m. and a loss would have GC playing in the loser’s bracket Thursday, June 7, at 6 p.m.

Machine Pitch Softball

Manager: Kye Hildreth; Coaches: Laura Korenek and JJ Oller; Roster: Kenley Williams, Maycee Myers, Jade Turner, Harper Korenek, Brayla Hildreth, Brennan Musick, Candence Zimmerman, Trinity Oller, Brianna Pyle, Halle Lowe, Avery Lowe and Esme` Spinks.

The MP softball girls are competing in Hempstead. Grimes County battled La-Grange American in the warmup game Monday but fell short 13-10.

Grimes County squares off with LaGrange Wednesday, June 5, at 8 p.m. to begin tournament play. A win sets up a game against Brazos County Thursday, June 6, at 8 p.m.

A loss will have GC playing Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m. in the loser’s bracket.

International All Stars from Grimes County will be announced in the June 12 edition of The Examiner. International tournament play will begin Monday, June 17.
