Rochester Red Wings pitcher Tyler Eppler did not earn a decision despite a quality July 3 start. The former Rattler allowed three hits in six scoreless innings and struck out a season-high six for the Washington Nationals Triple A affiliate. The right-hander singled in his first at-bat, and his sacrifice bunt in the fourth inning moved a runner to third base. Eppler had a 1-5 record and 7.41 earned run average in 11 games and a .500 batting average in six plate appearances.

Richards resident Jesse Hoke is a sophomore offensive lineman for University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He and others on the offensive line were honored in March on the Team of the Week for their play against Hardin-Simmons. He started all five of the team’s games.
