Check out our community events
Sunday worship at Salem was exciting. The Holy Cross Lutheran youth were at Camp Allen for the weekend and decided to come to our church as part of their weekend. Since we have few youth, seeing this large group of children (young adults) sitting in the pews was a fantastic way to start my week. Thanks for worshipping with us.
The Snook/Somerville games were at Somerville Tuesday. Winners of the JV and Lady Yeguas were Somerville but the Varsity Yegua boys lost their game by over 20 points. I was instructed by family to park behind the gym, which I did. I may return to parking at the front since the school busses are parked at the back. I heard yelling, saw children running, then heard “Gingi, just get in your car!” Shucks, I wanted to check all that out.
On Wednesday I found out why I was told to get in the car - someone yelled gun, and my family was actually trying to protect me. There are no safe places for people anymore.
With that in mind, there are several churches in the community that welcome visitors. These churches are Lynn Grove United Methodist, Union Grove Baptist and Salem Lutheran.
White Hall has events happening throughout the year. The 7D Ranch is having their Valentine’s Day event. You can check their website, www.7dranchtexas.com or call, 936-870-5114 for more information. White Hall Café offers specials Thursday – Friday and opens 4 till 8 p.m. on these days. On Saturday, they offer a special evening meal, but they open at 8 a.m. on Sunday for breakfast.
We also have the Threshold Vineyards and the Wildflyer Mead Company - both down the road from me. Threshold can be contacted by email at info@ thresholdvineyards.com or call, 936-225-3355. Wildflyer can be contacted by email at info@ wildflyermead.com or call, 936-213-0450.
Please understand that I am not being selective. I do not get out much to check my surroundings and I do not drink any wine other than communion wine.
