The junior high team is scheduled to play in Burton Thursday, Sept. 17, and the high school is slated to host Burton Friday, Sept. 18.

There will be a fajita dinner for Rabekah “Beka” Chestnutt to help her as her cancer has returned. The event will be at the Iola Fire Station Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 11 a.m. There will also be an auction with a variety of baked goods and other items. Come out and assist in this worthy event.

This is the first time I can recall that an annual meeting of the Martins Prairie Cemetery Association had to be canceled. The meeting was to be held Sunday, Sept. 6, but was canceled due to coronavirus. If you wish to donate for the upkeep of the cemetery, send your money to the Martin’s Prairie Cemetery Association, 14389 FM 244 Iola, Tx. 77861, in care of Darlene Lavender. Stay well and look forward to seeing you next year.

Funeral services for Mark Alan Plagens, age 62, of Iola were held Monday, Aug. 31 in the Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe. The service was held by Mark’s son Joe Plagens, me and the Aldine Masonic Lodge. He was a past master of the Aldine Masonic Lodge and Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 in Anderson.
