Golden Hearts to meet again

The monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club was held at the Keith Community Center with a covered dish meal that began at 6:30 p.m. and was enjoyed by all present.

It was announced that at the July meeting people are asked to bring finger foods such as sandwiches, chips, dips, cookies and homemade ice cream. Work needed to the building was discussed in the business meeting. Club president Bob Templeton Jr. found a man that will do most of the work for pay.

There will be a meeting of the Golden Hearts, which formerly met at the Iola Community Center, but haven’t met for a while for various reasons. They will meet in the fellowship hall of Evergreen Baptist Church Saturday, July 13, beginning at 11 a.m. Bring your favorite finger foods such as sandwiches, chips, dips and soft drinks. Games will be played so don’t forget your favorite games. This is for anyone 50 years and above.

There were two sisters baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, June 30, following the morning service. They are Elissa and Mariann Perez, daughters of Robert and Melissa Perez. Their brothers Robert Jr. and Brandon were baptized a few weeks ago. May God bless all of them on their Christian walk.

The installation of officers for Orphan’s Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 was held at their lodge hall in Anderson Monday, July 1, before the monthly lodge meeting. A barbecue meal was served. New officers installed include Worshipful Master- Davis Lee Vaughn; Senior Warden- Eric Bryant; Junior Warden- Mike Ellis; Treasurer- Dan Wag-non; Secretary- David Joe Moore; Chaplain- Mark Plagens; Senior Deacon Robert Valenzuela, Junior Deacon Ryan Rutledge; Senior Steward- Boyd Scott; Junior Steward- Daniel Evans; Marshall- David A. Cook; Master of Ceremonies- John Ray Maxwell; and Tiler- Jason Westmoreland. Don Lemon was the installing officer and Doug Powell was the installing Marshall. A good time was enjoyed by all in attendance.

Our residents and friends of Donny Ray Davis were saddened to learn of his passing Sunday, June 23. His funeral services were private. Remember his loved ones in your prayers.

I hope that your special day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary this week to July 7- Kalem and Kristie Wendt Evans, married July 7, 2001. July 9-Jeffrey Randall and Traci Rekieta Trant, married July 9, 2011. Join me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
