JACKIE SMITH LOFLAND 1951 – 2023

Mrs. Jackie Smith Lofland, 72, of Richards, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, peacefully at her residence. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, from 5-7 p.m., at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Crossroads Fellowship Church in Richards, TX, with Rev. Floyd Hoke officiating. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Richards, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Jackie was born in Navasota, TX, to Betty Jo and John Thomas “Jack” Smith on March 5, 1951. She attended Richards Elementary and High School and graduated from Richards High School in 1969. Then she went on to attend Blinn College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jo and John Thomas “Jack” Smith; husband Norman Lofland; and great nephew Jack Ryan Smith.

Jackie is survived by her brother John Robert “Bobby” Smith; sister-in-law, Delynn Decatur; nephew, Chase Smith and wife Stacey; niece, Erica Idom and husband James Coleman (JC) Idom; also great nieces and nephews, Zoey Smith, Cole Idom, Lane Smith and Emmy Idom.

Jackie was a country girl and lived all of her life in Richards, Texas. She married the love of her life Norman on Jan. 27, 1975 and they spent thirty four years together. She had a successful banking career and also spent lots of time racing and training horses. Jackie was the sweet voice and face that greeted you at Triangle B Propane and Hardware Store for many years. She loved animals and would always take in any animal in need of help. Jackie had a special love for border collies including two she owned later in her life named Phoebe and Buffy. She loved her brother, nieces and nephews with all of her heart and was loved and adored by them. Jackie will be remembered as a loving wife with a gentle demeanor and the willingness to always help others. She had a beautiful warm smile that would light up any room she entered. In addition to these wonderful qualities, she will be remembered for her love of shopping with her mother and nieces.

Jackie will be greatly missed and may she rest in peace. Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Haynie, Randy Haynie, Ronny Haynie, Robert Harris, Chase Smith, and James Coleman (JC) Idom. Honorary pallbearers are Cole Idom and Lane Smith.
