As I sit here typing, I cannot help but remember the tornados that came thru our little community four years ago and left a trail of damage. It appears that most of the people who lost their homes have managed to rebuild and move on. The day after, I remember riding around with Kevin and Ms. Pauline just looking at all the downed trees, tin everywhere and homes gone. I admit from that point, wind and rain get my attention immediately. Hopefully God will have mercy on our little community during this tornado season.

Now we have COVID-19 and getting back to normal seems almost impossible. Normal for me now is being able to keep up with all the birthdays in my family. It seems the majority of my group has a birthday in the summer. Wednesday, May 27, I had two which include Kacie and my son-in-law, Frank. Being that the years are not ones you would celebrate in a big fashion and they are adults, I was sure the day would pass by as just another workday but that was not the case. Those storms came, power was out, so no, it was not just a normal day.

The next special day is June 5, for my “going to be” newest teenager, Bean. Normally, that would be a celebration but again with the current pandemic, I am sure something special can come later. Paige celebrates June 18 and she will be 16 (watch out folks she will be learning to drive), Joni celebrates June 28 and “lordy, lordy she turns 40!” July 14 Bree will be 14, July 11 is for Jordan and July 18 is Chucky who will be 12.

You know, I remember turning 40. Yep, a student worker of mine, architecture major, made a sign that said, “Guess who turns 40 today?” Of course, he had my name in large red letters and he had the saying on both sides of the sign, so you could see it going and coming. Oh, this sign was on Hwy 6, no less.

Don’t forget to pay your dues for the Courtney Cemetery Association. The deadline for this is June 15.

Lynn Grove UMC held their Sunday service outside last weekend.

The Whiskey Tango is open, but I have not heard about the Queen of Hearts game and if it will be started again. When I hear, I will let you know.

Thanks to anyone who may have donated for Buddy Poppies on Monday. We appreciate your help for our veterans.
