Pyramid Masonic meeting March 19

The monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club was held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb 28, at the Keith Community Center with a small number in attendance. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all in attendance. The business meeting was held after with a good deal of business discussed. Among the items discussed was the bake sale, which will be in April and will help raise money for the club. This sale is held twice a year for that purpose.

•The monthly meeting of the Orphan’s Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 was held Monday, March 4, in Anderson. The covered dish meal was served at 6 p.m. with the meal being served to some 24 members and visitors. A good time was enjoyed by all present. The National Sojourners Incorporated held a flag ceremony prior to the lodge’s business meeting. The purpose of this group is to organize current and former members of the United States armed forces and honorary members, who are Master Masons, into chapters for the promotion of good fellowship among members. During the business meeting, a garage sale was discussed, which will take place the first Saturday in May. More will be announced as that date approaches. Lots of good items, both old and new, will be offered for sale.

•The monthly meeting of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No. 593 will have a meeting Tuesday, March 19, at the lodge hall in North Zulch. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by the business meeting at 7:30 p.m. All Masons are invited to attend.

•Texas Independence Day was Saturday, March 2, with celebrations held all across Texas. It was that date the armies of Texas defeated the armies of Mexico, granting us our freedom. There are several in our community that have ancestors that date to that time period. Let us never forget these people.

•The members of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church will not have Wednesday night services March 13, due to spring break. The church will have services as usual the following week.

•Happy birthday this week to the following: Linda Omega Flynt Lawson, Justin Trant Shaw, Jimmy Owens and Trice High, March 10; Chad Biddle and Truman Wayne Thebeau, March 11; Haley Pointer and Chloe Johnson Butts, March 12; Debbie Barney and Allie Rose Johnson, March 13; Gene Bushman and Bro. Joe Saffle, March 14; Rhonda Gaye McCleney Duke and Tina Noa, March 15; and Joel Ruen, March 16. Do hope that your special day was a happy one.

•Happy anniversary this week to the following: Clint and Karri Kennedy, married March 10; Wade and Jennifer Akers House, married March 12; Dustin Ryan and Grace Topping Pedretti, married March 13, 2004; Ray and Kim Carson Doty, married March 15, 2015; and Michael Ewing and Melanie Ann Herrera, Trant, married March 14.
