Winter storm repairs led to a fire at Navasota Livestock Auction Monday, Feb. 22, that was extinguished quickly. Navasota Fire Chief Jason Katkoski said contractors were working on a portion of the roof that was damaged from the snow load. While using cutting torches to cut away some of the metal on the roof, the insulation ignited. Katkoski said the fire was extinguished quickly.
“The fire did not extend into any part of the building, and there were no animals in the area,” explained Katkoski.
Navasota Livestock Auction owner Greg Goudeau said he is thankful Navasota Fire and Police Departments responded to the fire quickly. According to Goudeau, Cow Talk Steakhouse was not affected by the fire and will resume business as normal and the livestock auction will continue Saturday, Feb. 27.
