William “Bill” Robert Shive, 72, of Navasota, Texas, went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024, with his family by his side.

Bill was born in Navasota on April 29, 1951, to the late Wilson “Bo” and Nelda Thane Shive. He graduated from Navasota High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly after. An aircraft mechanic, Bill was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina and served in Okinawa, Japan until his honorable discharge in 1973. Bill returned to Navasota and joined the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, a career he devoted himself to for over 50 years. A loyal and dedicated postman who always had time for everyone, Bill’s customers and colleagues loved and adored him.

Bill was a loving husband, dad, Granddaddy, uncle, and dear friend to many. He was kind and patient, never met a stranger, and had the biggest, most selfless heart. An outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting and roping, but his 11 grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he spent most evenings and weekends attending school programs, dance recitals and sporting events.

Bill’s sparkly light blue eyes and contagious smile will be dearly missed, but his family and friends rejoice in knowing he is home with his Lord and Savior.

Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tracy; sons, Jeffery Shive (Kara) and Matt Shive (Holly); daughter, Jodi Robinson (Matt); grandchildren, Cadence, Cotulla, Kane, Ellison, Tate, Cavenlea, Charis, Mason, Jules and Cullen; sister-in-law, Michele Harrington (Jim) and brotherin- law, Frank Imhoff. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson “Bo” and Nelda Shive; brother, Dennis Shive; sister-in-law, Laura Imhoff; and granddaughter, Contessa Shive.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 19, from 5-7 p.m., at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthias Dinger officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Jason Shive, Josh Shive, Hunter Harrington, Will Imhoff, Coy Imhoff, Jason Orlando, Ty Taliaferro and Frank Imhoff.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Navasota.
