Read moreWhen my mom, Dolores (Herzog) Hoffart, gave the valedictory speech at the Montgomery High School graduation in 1952, little did she know that she was beginning a legacy that would span over 68 years in the history of Montgomery ISD. Three generations of our family have attended Montgomery ISD from start to finish and have held the valedictorian title at Montgomery High School. My mom Dolores graduated in 1952 with less than 20 in her class, her daughter and my sister, Carol (Hoffart) Reissig, graduated in 1980 with about 60 students in her class, and Carol’s son and my nephew, Seth Reissig, just graduated on June 5 with 410 students in his class. All three were Valedictorian’s of their class. (Just a side note: I graduated from Montgomery High School in 1971 with 31 in my class but only with the title of Salutatorian – not top dogs with them). It all started with our mother who instilled in all of us good study and work ethics. I’m saddened that she was unable to be with us to receive acknowledgment of a “job well done” as she died Jan. 15.

I was only 2.9 miles from my turnoff but back in the area where the wedding was held, it seemed more like 29 miles. I only thought CR 302 was curvy, nope! However, there are those big arrows instructing you which way to turn prior to coming up on the curve. The weather was good for an outside casual attire event and the hosting family did a wonderful job for Stephanie and Brandon. Being the grandma, I had a corsage, too! Not sure it looked that good with jeans. With that said, I have a grandson-in–law and three more great grandchildren to add to this already crazy group.
