Iola Food Pantry monthly food distribution was held at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Aug. 19. It was certainly a success. Around 92 people showed up for a variety of food including meat, canned food, produce and more.

In his late political career, at the time of the Civil War, he was often referred to as a Unionist because of his birth state of Connecticut.
