Read moreWow, part of my previous week is a blur. My five day stay at the Scott & White villa consisted of poking, prodding, tests, more tests and lots of drugs - thank goodness. I was actually out of it for the first part of my stay. Everyone was good and I should be very thankful that they are so thorough even though I was discharged twice and each time the paperwork was canceled.

Read moreWhen my mom, Dolores (Herzog) Hoffart, gave the valedictory speech at the Montgomery High School graduation in 1952, little did she know that she was beginning a legacy that would span over 68 years in the history of Montgomery ISD. Three generations of our family have attended Montgomery ISD from start to finish and have held the valedictorian title at Montgomery High School. My mom Dolores graduated in 1952 with less than 20 in her class, her daughter and my sister, Carol (Hoffart) Reissig, graduated in 1980 with about 60 students in her class, and Carol’s son and my nephew, Seth Reissig, just graduated on June 5 with 410 students in his class. All three were Valedictorian’s of their class. (Just a side note: I graduated from Montgomery High School in 1971 with 31 in my class but only with the title of Salutatorian – not top dogs with them). It all started with our mother who instilled in all of us good study and work ethics. I’m saddened that she was unable to be with us to receive acknowledgment of a “job well done” as she died Jan. 15.
