I found the most beautiful bluebonnet field. It is on the right going towards William Penn, FM 390, and it is solid blue. When I first noticed it, I thought about stopping, but there is not much space to park, and I was running late. Near Kettler Road there was a field of orange and then when you get to the outskirts of Somerville, there is one part on the side of Hwy 36 that is mostly pink wildflowers with blue, orange and yellow wildflowers sprinkled throughout.

Read moreThe famous St. Joseph’s Stew Supper is Thursday, March 16 at 6 p.m. in the parish hall in Stoneham. Supper will be served after a 5:30 p.m. Mass in the church. This yearly event is put on by the Altar Society to celebrate St. Joseph’s Feast Day. A delicious homemade beef stew, wonderful bread and homemade pies are on the menu. Meal for adults is $10 and $5 for children 12 and under. They usually have some left over you can buy to take home. Lots of people bring their own bowls or containers. Only in the country, right? A raffle and short auction will coincide with the supper. Don’t miss it.

Meetings help the community know what is going on with the department, they can ask questions and visit with volunteer firefighters and auxiliary members. This is not a means of getting you to join, but a way of supplying information about our department. However, we are always ready for new members. Training for firefighters is planned by our Training Coordinator, Christopher Vickers.
