Richards royalty were crowned in front of a packed house of Panther Alumni Jan. 13, during Homecoming 2023. RHS seniors Elijah Bay and Baylee Francis were crowned Homecoming King and Queen. Homecoming festivities included a Thursday night bonfire, Friday night games and a dance on Saturday. Richards varsity boys and girls clinched exciting victories over North Zulch.

Grimes County’s own Willy 1550/98.7 deejay Kenny Graves will kick things off at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1962 SH 90 in Anderson. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.

He also placed fourth in the Hot Round of the MJ Vegas Tuffest and third in average at the Vegas Stars. Chesney Calhoun, a sophomore at RISD, placed third overall at the Vegas Stars. She placed second in round one and won the short go. Chesney also placed fifth in round two of the MJ Vegas Tuffest. Tyler and Chesney are the children of Poppa and Sylvia Calhoun.

Congress first passed standards to begin the process with the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 during the George W. Bush administration. The Obama administration implemented the standards but the Trump administration reversed them in 2019. In April 2022 they were reimplemented by the Biden administration. Then, in December 2022 new rules were proposed that would also phase out some other bulb types in favor of light emitting diode, LED, bulbs.
