The work is being funded by a HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a grant that Grimes County most likely would not have received without Johnson’s willingness to be part of the problem’s solution.

Her first teaching position was in eighth grade language arts at Navasota ISD in 1999. She next taught seventh grade language arts and technology applications. She spent 17 years as a classroom teacher at Navasota Junior High.
