Read moreA Navasota Police Officer was rear-ended while responding to a separate accident on Texas 6 northbound May 13. Navasota Police responded around 11 a.m. to Texas 6 northbound at the Navasota River bridge for a report of a single vehicle car crash. Officers said the vehicle struck the river bridge barriers and was disabled in the left lane of traffic. The accident may have been attributed to wet road conditions from recent rain.

Around 4:25 a.m. Navasota Police responded to Texas 6 southbound between Texas 90 and Texas 105 East for reports of a commercial vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Officers located a male laying in the middle of the highway. He was dead on arrival and didn’t have identification.
Read moreLEE COUNTY – Three Navasota men remain in Lee County Jail on multiple burglary and engaging in organized criminal activity charges. According to a press release by Lee County Sheriff’s Office, around 5:12 a.m. May 12, a property owner contacted LCSO stating his camera was showing three subjects on his property. Sergeant Holloway responded to the location near CR 127 and FM 180. He waited at the entrance until Deputy J. Hilmo arrived to assist. Around 5:42 a.m. the suspects drove up on an ATV taken from the property. Holloway and Hilmo engaged and attempted to detain the suspects when one of them pointed a weapon at them. One of the officers fired at the suspects who fled the scene in a red passenger car.

Officers from Navasota Police Department, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and Grimes County Constable Offices were working two separate events at the Grimes County Fairgrounds, 5200 block of FM 3455. Around midnight officers were notified of shots fired in the parking lot.

Lauren Julian, a special education teacher at High Point Elementary spoke publicly in the May 1 special meeting and returned to advocate again at the May 15 meeting. “I’m just coming tonight on behalf of our paraprofessionals. Again, I am just going to say that I can’t do my job without them and I just wanted to remind you how amazing they are.”
